Dune plants cheat sheet

dune_species_boundary_bay_Page_1If you’re out walking on a wild beach like that at Boundary Bay Regional Park in Tsawwassen, be sure to check out some of the amazing native plant species that manage to survive some pretty harsh conditions — unrelenting sun, very little freshwater, drying wind, salt spray and little organic material in the soil for nutrients. But these hardy plants manage to thrive.
These plants also make up a rare, red-listed plant community in BC — so treat them gently (i.e. no trampling and no picking). Enjoy!
